Choose complementary colors and styles that harmonize without being overly identical. Avoid busy patterns or logos that may distract. Bright colors like yellow and green offer little contrast, opt for darker neutral colors or whites.
Highly Recommended! Plan your session during the golden hour—shortly after sunrise or before sunset—for soft, flattering lighting. FYI Kids tend to do better in the morning before the excitement of the days tires them out.
Genuine expressions shine through in photos. Focus on having fun and interacting naturally with each other instead of posing stiffly. Yes, I will be there to give direction, but posing can look forced and unnatural. You will get out what you put in!
For family shoots, let kids be themselves. Play games, bring favorite toys, or encourage movement to capture candid, joyful moments. Parents, remember you're taking photos to- if you are yelling at the kids to behave during photos then all the photos of you will be yelling as well :)
also, BRING SNACKS!! (for the kids, though I get hungry too)
I am not a mind reader- ask my wife!
Share your vision, ideas, and any specific shots you want captured. This ensures your personality and style are reflected in the photos. If there is a photo you want of Aunt Jill with your second cousin Tom and your sister Diane, tell me. You know your family dynamic best!
Photoshoots can take time, especially with kids or large groups. Focus on enjoying the experience and trust the photographer to capture the perfect moments. I often get my most expressive images when your guard is down, between the images you think I'm taking ;)
